What is BOTOX?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time.

Who is BOTOX for?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is approved for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people ages 18–65.

Why get treated with BOTOX Cosmetic?
When it comes to selecting a physician-administered aesthetic treatment, chances are you’ll want proof, not just claims. The proof for BOTOX® Cosmetic is in the numbers.

In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women surveyed rated the improvement in the appearance of frown lines between their brows as moderate to better 1 month after treatment. Results can last for up to 4 months, and may vary.

BOTOX® Cosmetic was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2002 for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people ages 18 to 65, and almost 3.3 million procedures were performed in 2005 alone.

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery ranked BOTOX® Cosmetic as the most popular physician-administered aesthetic procedure in the United States for the fourth year in a row (surgical and nonsurgical combined).

Will I be able to make facial expressions?
After treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic, you may look in the mirror and see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows. But BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance. You can still frown or look surprised—without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

BOTOX® Cosmetic works by temporarily reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause those persistent frown lines that have developed between your brows over time.

Within days, you may see an improvement that can last up to 4 months. Results may vary. If you do not continue treatments, the frown lines between your brows will gradually look like they did before treatment.

Are there any side effects?
Do not use BOTOX® Cosmetic if you:

  • have an infection where BOTOX® Cosmetic will be injected
  • are allergic to any of the ingredients in BOTOX® Cosmetic
  • are pregnant or think you might be pregnant.
What should I tell my doctor before using BOTOX® Cosmetic?
Only your doctor can decide if BOTOX® Cosmetic is right for you. Before starting treatment, tell your doctor if you:
  • have any diseases that affect your nerves and muscles. These diseases may increase your chance of side effects with BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment.
  • are breastfeeding
  • are planning to become pregnant soon

Can any of my medicines interact with BOTOX® Cosmetic?
Be sure that your doctor knows the names of all the medicines you are using, including:

  • antibiotics used to treat infections, such as gentamicin, tobramycin, clindamycin, and lincomycin
  • medicines used to treat heart rhythm problems, such as quinidine
  • medicines used to treat different conditions, such as myasthenia gravis or Alzheimer’s disease.
  • As with all prescription medicines, you should also notify your doctor if you are taking any over-the-counter medicines or herbal products.
This is not a complete list of medicines that can interact with BOTOX® Cosmetic. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for the Professional Package Insert for complete information.

How often is treatment recommended?
If you're pleased with the results of a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment, you'll probably want to get on a treatment schedule so you can keep on being pleased.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a non-surgical, physician-administered aesthetic treatment that can temporarily reduce the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows for up to 4 months. Within days, you may see a noticeable improvement. Results may vary. You can receive injections with BOTOX® Cosmetic up to every 4 months to help you maintain the results.

If you discontinue treatment, the frown lines between your brows gradually will look like they did before treatment.

Don't wait for a special occasion to use BOTOX® Cosmetic. Talk to your doctor about a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment now.

Important Safety Information
Serious heart problems and serious allergic reactions have been reported rarely. If you think you’re having an allergic reaction or other unusual symptoms, such as difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing, call your doctor immediately. The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.

Do I have severe underarm sweating?
If underarm sweating is significantly interfering with your daily activities and topical agents haven't worked, you may be a candidate for BOTOX® treatment.

You should notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within 4 weeks of your first treatment. There is a possibility that some sweat glands may be missed, and you may continue to experience some sweating from the untreated areas. If you do not see a significant reduction in sweating, you should contact your healthcare provider and request a follow-up consultation.

FILLERS

Dermal fillers are fun and are instant life changers. Deep laugh lines can add years to your face and can be erased in just under 30 minutes! For the finer wrinkles BOTOX is recommended, however the deeper lines are best filled with one of the following: Radiesse, Restylane, Juvederm, and Perlane. Each lasts a different duration of time and have different uses. Lip enhancements or smokers lines we like to use Restylane, for the deeper lines, cheek enhancement, nose contouring, and restoring volume we like to use Radiesse, Juvederm or Perlane. Come find out which one you will be using to improve your appearance!

There are a few options to choose from for all the above needs.

Radiesse: The Next Generation in Long Lasting Wrinkle Correction

Radiesse® is an FDA-approved, next-generation dermal filler that is setting a new standard for the correction of facial lines and wrinkles such as nasolabial folds.

Made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel, Radiesse is injected into the skin through a simple and minimally invasive procedure giving you immediate, visible improvement of folds and wrinkles, and providing long-lasting and beautiful results.

In many patients, the effects of Radiesse may last a year or more. Offering clinically proven safety and longevity, Radiesse is a convenient treatment that stimulates the body to produce new collagen — often with just one or two office visits.

What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a safe, next generation dermal filler that is aiming to become the new standard for the correction of facial lines and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds. Years of rigorous clinical studies prove that Radiesse provides long lasting correction of smile lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel that is injected into the skin through a simple, safe, and minimally invasive procedure. Radiesse treatments deliver a natural look that lasts.

How does Radiesse work?
Radiesse is gently injected into the skin in small amounts with a very fine needle. Radiesse stimulates the body to produce new collagen. This unique response provides immediate, visible improvement of folds and wrinkles, and provides long-lasting and beautiful results. More information on how Radiesse injections work

Is Radiesse safe?
In years of rigorous clinical testing and use by physicians in hundreds of thousands of patients worldwide, Radiesse has been shown to be safe and effective. In the FDA clinical studies there were virtually no allergic reactions. There may be some normal injection related occurrences, such as bruising, discomfort, swelling, or redness that typically resolve on their own.

Am I a Radiesse candidate?
You may be a Radiesse dermal filler candidate if you are beginning to notice facial wrinkles, lines, and folds. Radiesse provides immediate and long-lasting wrinkle correction. Talk to a Radiesse physician for more information.

Why "correct" wrinkles with Radiesse?
Over time, tissue volume diminishes, leaving folds and wrinkles in several common patterns, including the deepening of nasolabial folds, accentuated smile lines (sometimes called "marionette lines"). Radiesse can be injected into the skin in order to compensate for the loss of volume or to correct these areas. By stimulating the body to produce new collagen, Radiesse provides a natural look that lasts for a fresh, rested, healthy appearance that still looks like you.

How is a Radiesse treatment performed?
Radiesse is injected into the skin through a simple, safe, quick, and minimally invasive outpatient procedure. Typically administered in a physician's office with the use of a local anesthetic, Radiesse treatment requires little to no downtime, with most patients returning to normal activities almost immediately after treatment.

How soon can I expect results? How long will the results last?
The results are immediate. Radiesse continues to deliver results as it stimulates your body to produce new collagen. Results may last a year or more in many patients, which may result in fewer office visits for retreatments. Since results may vary, be sure to discuss your expectations with your doctor.

How many treatments will I need?
Many patients will achieve their desired result after just one or two treatments. To ensure your satisfaction with the treatment, your physician might schedule a follow-up visit, where a touch up treatment might be recommended.

How much does Radiesse cost?
Because Radiesse treatment is customized for each patient, its cost varies. In general, the cost of Radiesse is comparable to similar procedures. And because Radiesse may require fewer offices visits for retreatment, you could save money and time. Consult your physician for a recommendation as to how Radiesse can best meet your individual needs.

Are there any side effects?
Normal, injection-related reactions such as mild irritation, edema, swelling, itching, discoloration, or tenderness at the injection site may occur. These conditions typically resolve themselves within one to two days. More information about Radiesse side effects

Could I have an allergic reaction to Radiesse?
Radiesse is biocompatible. You do not need to undergo skin allergy testing, which is common with certain animal-based or permanent filler agents, prior to treatment. However, if you believe you are having an allergic reaction to Radiesse, seek medical attention immediately.

Is Radiesse permanent?
No. Treatment results are long-lasting, but not permanent. Over time the tiny calcium-based microspheres gradually break down into calcium and phosphate ions which are safely and naturally absorbed into your body, leaving your own newly produced collagen in their place.

JUVÉDERM

As we age, our skin changes. Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form. But, with Juvéderm™ injectable gel, you dont have to just sit back and let it happen! Approved by the FDA, Juvéderm™ injectable gel is a "next-generation" dermal filler.

What is JUVÉDERM™?
Juvéderm™ is the only HA filller with FDA approval to last up to one year.* Ask your physician how you can get long-lasting results with Juvéderm™. Juvéderm™ injectable gel is a "next-generation" smooth consistency gel dermal filler that helps to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds like your "smile lines" or "parentheses" (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth). Juvéderm™ comes in two formulations—Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus.

*Juvéderm™ is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds).

What does JUVÉDERM™ do?
Juvéderm™ injectable gel temporarily adds volume to facial tissue and restores a smoother appearance to the face.

What is JUVÉDERM™ indicated for?
Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus injectable gels are indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis (below the outer layer of skin) for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases running from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth, aka smiles lines or parentheses).

Why does JUVÉDERM™ come in two formulations?
Juvéderm™ injectable gel is available in two formulations to allow your healthcare professional to tailor treatment to your unique needs. Juvéderm™ Ultra provides versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus is a more robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles.

What makes JUVÉDERM™ different from other dermal fillers?
JUVÉDERM™ is the ONLY hyaluronic acid (HA) filler FDA approved to last up to 1 year.* Our unique manufacturing process provides a high concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid for long-lasting results. It also works to create a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin and provides a smooth, natural look and feel. All other currently approved hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are made of granular consistency gels. And, Juvéderm™ is the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has demonstrated its safety and effectiveness in persons of color.

*Juvéderm™ is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds).

How is JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel different from BOTOX® Cosmetic?
Juvéderm™ injectable gel is a "next-generation" hyaluronic acid dermal filler that provides volume and is used to treat wrinkles and folds resulting from a loss of volume beneath the surface of the skin such as perioral lines and nasolabial folds (lines around your mouth and nose). Juvéderm™ restores your skin's volume for a smooth, natural look and feel. BOTOX® Cosmetic is not a filler. BOTOX® Cosmetic relaxes muscle activity and is used to treat moderate to severe lines caused by the dominant frown muscles between the eyebrows (the glabellar area). This allows the two vertical lines between the brows, often referred to as the "11", to temporarily diminish for a smoother appearance. For important safety information about BOTOX® Cosmetic, see below.

What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in all mammals that helps to hydrate and add volume to your skin. In addition to its use as an aesthetic treatment, hyaluronic acid has also been used for more than 20 years for injection into arthritic joints to aid movement as well as for eye surgeries and wound repair.

What is cross-linked hyaluronic acid?
"Uncross-linked" hyaluronic acid in its natural form is in a liquid state. "Cross-linking" is the process through which hyaluronic acid is made into a gel product that can be injected into the skin for long-lasting results.

How is JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel used in treatment?
Your healthcare provider eases Juvéderm™ injectable gel into the skin using a fine needle to temporarily fill in and augment the treatment area and smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as "smile lines" or "parentheses" (nasolabial folds) and "marionette lines" (oral commissures). Juvéderm™ temporarily adds volume to the skin and may give the appearance of a smoother surface.

What will treatment with JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel accomplish?
Juvéderm™ injectable gel will help to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing. And one treatment could smooth your lines and wrinkles for up to 1 year. Ask your doctor what you should expect from your initial treatment and when they would recommend rescheduling another appointment.

Is treatment with JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel painful?
Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. The smooth consistency gel of Juvéderm™ allows your doctor to administer it easily and smoothly. And, Juvéderm™ is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Your doctor may choose to numb (anesthetize) the treatment area to further minimize discomfort.

How long does treatment usually take?
The injection process takes only about 15 minutes. You'll also need to allow time to consult with your doctor prior to treatment.

What kind of doctor can provide treatment with JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel?
Any authorized healthcare professional can administer Juvéderm™ injectable gel, but dermatologists, plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists (ear, nose, and throat doctors), or physicians specializing in cosmetic procedures are generally more experienced

Does the correction last forever?
No. Correction is temporary; therefore, touch-up injections as well as repeat injections are usually needed to maintain optimal corrections.

How long do results last?
JUVÉDERM™ is the ONLY hyaluronic acid (HA) filler FDA approved to last up to 1 year.* Talk to your healthcare professional about Juvéderm™ today—so you can start seeing results!

*Juvéderm™ is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds).

What are the possible side effects of JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel?
Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injections site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures there is a risk of infection.

Can people with different skin tones/colors be treated with JUVÉDERM™?
Yes. In fact, Juvéderm™ injectable gel is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has proven its safety and effectiveness in persons of color. Studies with Juvéderm™ showed no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring in patients of color.

Important JUVÉDERM™ Treatment Considerations
Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus are indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds). Side effects were usually mild to moderate lasting 7 days or less and included temporary injection site reactions like redness, pain, firmness, swelling and bumps. RESTYLANE & PERLANE

Restylane® products are cosmetic dermal fillers that replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).

Restylane and Perlane® are made of hyaluronic acid. In the human body, natural hyaluronic acid provides volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane and Perlane has been modified slightly to last longer than the body's hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane and Perlane is produced by a biotechnical process.

Restylane and Perlane are hydrophilic or "water loving." The hydrophilic nature of these hyaluronic acid molecules and their three dimensional structure allows them to bind many times their own weight in water. As hyaluronic acid begins to degrade, each molecule binds to more water which helps to maintain its volume for about six months.

Restylane and Perlane contain no animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reactions. Restylane and Perlane contain trace amounts of gram-positive bacterial proteins and are contraindicated for patients with a history of allergies to such material. No allergy testing is required before use.

If you're considering a dermal filler treatment, there are a few things you should know about Restylane® and Perlane®.

What are Restylane® and Perlane®?
Restylane® and Perlane® are cosmetic dermal fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).

What are Restylane® and Perlane® made of?
Restylane® and Perlane® are made of hyaluronic acid.

Are Restylane® and Perlane® derived from animals?
Restylane® and Perlane® contain no animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reactions. No allergy testing is required before use.*

What should patients do prior to treatment?
Restylane® and Perlane® require no pre-testing. However, you should take a few precautions before being treated with Restylane or Perlane. Prior to treatment, avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements because this may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with your doctor who may prescribe a medication to minimize recurrence.

How are Restylane® and Perlane® different from each other?
Restylane® and Perlane® contain stabilized hyaluronic acid, made by the same biotechnical process. The difference is Perlane is composed of larger gel particles than Restylane and is intended for deeper injection to volumize skin for correcting facial wrinkles and folds. Your physician can best determine what is right for you.

Are Restylane® and Perlane® safe?
Restylane® and Perlane® have well defined safety profiles. Clinical studies showed no significant differences in the safety of Restylane and Perlane. Restylane is the most used, most studied cosmetic dermal filler, and has been used in over 70 countries and in more than 1.4 million treatments in the U.S.

How long do Restylane® or Perlane® last?
Restylane® and Perlane® are proven to deliver long-lasting results. Studies have shown that Restylane lasts for about six months. Perlane lasts at least six months in the majority of patients. The patented stabilization technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect for those time periods.

How often should I have Restylane® or Perlane® treatments?
How long the aesthetic correction lasts is very individual. Talk with your doctor about the benefits of scheduling an appointment in about six months.

How are Restylane® or Perlane® different from Botox® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Restylane® are used to correct wrinkles in different ways. Restylane products are cosmetic fillers injected into the skin, adding volume to smooth wrinkles such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). In contrast, BOTOX relaxes the muscles that cause frown lines between your eyebrows.

How are Restylane® or Perlane® different from bovine collagen products?
Restylane® and Perlane® contain no animal proteins. Restylane and Perlane do not require an allergy test and can be administered immediately, so there is no waiting for treatments. (This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction.) Restylane and Perlane contain trace amounts of gram-positive bacterial proteins and are contraindicated for patients with a history of allergies to such material.

Do the injections hurt?
Restylane® and Perlane® are injected directly into the skin in small amounts by an ultra fine needle. As with all injections, some patients may experience discomfort. To increase your comfort, your doctor will assess your need for pain management and determine which technique is right for you.

How much do Restylane® or Perlane® treatments cost?
A Restylane® or Perlane® procedure is customized to your specific needs, so the cost will vary from patient to patient. In general, the cost of Restylane and Perlane treatment is comparable to the cost of similar procedures. However, because Restylane and Perlane provide long-lasting results of about six months, they may prove to be very economical over the long term. Ask your doctor to give a cost estimate based on your particular needs.

If you want to enjoy a smoother, more youthful appearance for about six months, ask your physician if Restylane® or Perlane® is right for you.
